Leisure & Attractions if Moving to Spofforth
There are two main attractions that pull visitors to Spofforth. The first being the early 14th century Spofforth Castle which is a fortified manor house that has fallen into ruin. It is widely seen as a castle that was primarily for residence rather than for defence which goes some way to explain how the castle has features you would associate with an abbey or mansion. It is now run by English Heritage.
Further towards Wetherby is the country house and estate of Stockeld Park. It is still a family home to the Grant family but is also a seasonal tourist attraction which attracts many families to the grounds to experience the “Home of Adventures” around Christmas time.
